To close the year, I finished two pairs of socks! I have also just cleaned out my fridge and washed my bathroom/kitchen floors. There is something out clearing out to let in the new year. Starting with a clean slate!

Lo and behold! The Uneven Rib and the RPM!

I have cast on something new…something I thought I would never knit…a wash cloth! I am trying the Puffalump Limbo Line washcloth in some leftover Bendigo Cotton from the Peter Davison jumper.

Off to get ready for a few drinks. Have a nice New Year!

After a two-hour train trip from Bendigo to Melbourne, I am now at the decreases for the toe on the RPM sock! I think I am going to finish before New Year.
As New Year’s Eve comes around, it makes me think about 2009 and my knitting resolutions.
Firstly, I will revisit my 2008 resolutions – entrelac (done!), lace (done!), cables (done!), toe-up socks (done!) and dyeing (NO!). Overall 2008 has been a successful year of learning new knitting stuff. Highlights being the big items; Goth Mermaid Shawl and Peter Davison jumper. But sometimes the simple things are favourites, I love my Noro Striped Scarf and slipped whilst at Wool Baa recently and bought the yarn for another.

Ok, in 2009 I want to try;
– colourwork : mittens for the cold walk to work on wintry Melbourne mornings
– hats : not really a hat person (I got lots of hair!) but want to make a slouchy beret
– dyeing
– spinning
The list is shorter this year, but I want to branch out into other fibre arts associated with knitting.
Also
– more swatching
– pay more attention to row and stitch counts when making garments (jumpers and cardigans are not my friends at the moment!)
– knit from the ever increasing stash (lace weight yarn is so easy to buy!)

What are yours?

Woo hoo! Uneven Ribbed Socks in Heirloom are done!
Up to the heel flap of the second RPM sock in Knitting Ninja Cashmerino. About to get in the car for a bit of a drive, so I will try to get more done.

News – sale at the Knittery. Please buy everything before I do.

I have been awful slack with my WIPs this year. As some people from Sunday arvo SnB kno, I have been knittingĀ  someĀ  socks all year.

I have decided! I am going to finish 2008 with no WIPs on the needles. (except for the lace…lets be realistic here, there are only 16 days til the end of the year).

I have two single socks (RPM and Broken Rib) and the Lace Ribbon Scarf to finish.

Wish me luck!

The event was a handfasting ceremony which is a pagan ceremony where the couple have their hands fastened with cords to represent their connection. It was a lovely ceremony, with immediate family and a couple of close friends only. My friend looked beautiful with the rose buds in her hair.
The shawl matched her dress perfectly, but this was pure coincidence! Ah the wonders of serendipity!
Thanks to Live2Knit for the dyeing and Vicki Mickaluk for the pattern. Thanks to the project for giving me the yarn bug!
